Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Picnic and Seminars : An Afternoon at the Vineyard

About Stag's Leap Wine Cellars: The afternoon of Sunday, August 19, Warren and Barbara Winiarski generously open Stag's Leap Vineyards to Nor*Cal Alumni's premier event. This year we'll be joined by tutors emeriti Wendy Allanbrook and Tom Slakey, as well as by former tutor James Forkin.

The tranquil Vineyards, dominated by their namesake the Stag's Leap pallisade, are the perfect place to spread out a picnic, meet old friends, make new ones or enjoy one of ten seminars. You'll also get a chance to taste the wine that, in a historic 1976 blind tasting, established Northern California as a premier wine-growing region.

Directions to Stag's Leap Wine Cellars: The winery is located on the Silverado Trail, which runs parallel to and just east of route 29, north of the town of Napa. The drive takes about an hour and a half from San Francisco, and we encourage you to carpool. From Marin County, San Francisco, and points south, take highway 101 north to route 37 (east) to route 29. From the East Bay take interstate 80 east (despite its name, you will be going north) to route 37 (west) to route 29. In either case, follow route 29 (north) into Napa. On the north side of Napa, turn right at the traffic light for Trancas Road, then left onto Silverado Trail. Continue up Silverado Trail for a few miles; the winery is on the right. Use the 5690 Silverado Trail entrance (i.e., the first entrance that you come to from the south, not the main entrance just beyond it). The winery's phone number is 707-944-2020.

For additional directions, please veiw the PDF map of the winery or a google map of the area.

You should park in the parking area next to the lake. To get to the lake parking lot, don't pull into the main winery entrance. Instead, turn right into the driveway just south of the main entrance (the road is immediately after a mailbox that says 5690 on it). Follow the driveway around to the lake. There will be signs posted that lead you from the Silverado Trail to the parking area next to the lake.
